Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head toward the town of Sisters, Oregon, which is a common base for exploring the Cascade Mountains. From Sisters, take Highway 20 East. Approximately 9 miles from Sisters, you'll see the sign for Black Butte Ranch. Turn right onto the road that leads to Black Butte Ranch. Continue straight on this road until you reach the entrance of Black Butte Ranch. Note that there may be a fee to enter the ranch area, so be prepared for a small cost.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will first need to get to Bend, Oregon, which is the closest major city. From Bend, you can take a shuttle or a taxi to Sisters, Oregon. Once in Sisters, you can use a local taxi service to reach Black Butte Ranch directly. Please check local schedules for shuttle services, as they may vary. Additionally, be prepared for transportation costs, which can range from $30 to $100 depending on the service you choose.

• Hiking/Walking

  If you are staying at Black Butte Ranch and wish to explore Black Butte itself, there is a hiking trail that leads from the ranch to the summit of Black Butte. The trail is well-marked and spans approximately 1.7 miles one way, making it a moderate hike. Ensure you have proper footwear and water, as the trail can be steep in parts.
