Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the nearest major city, which is Bend, Oregon. From Bend, take US-20 W towards Sisters. After approximately 20 miles, turn onto OR-126 W. Continue on OR-126 W for about 30 miles until you reach the junction with Forest Road 15. Turn right onto Forest Road 15 and follow this road for about 10 miles until you reach the Coffin Mountain trailhead. There is a parking area where you can leave your car. Be aware that a parking fee may be required, so bring cash or a credit card.

• Public Transportation + Hiking

  If you prefer public transportation, take a Greyhound or local bus to Bend, Oregon. From the bus station, you will need to arrange a local taxi or rideshare service to reach the Coffin Mountain area, as public transport does not directly service the trailhead. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and cost around $40-$60. Once you arrive at the Coffin Mountain trailhead parking area, you can begin your hike up the mountain. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, and check trail conditions before you go.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, consider cycling to Coffin Mountain. Starting from Bend, take the same route as by car, traveling along US-20 W and OR-126 W. This route is approximately 50 miles one way and will take several hours, depending on your cycling speed and fitness level. Ensure your bicycle is in good condition and that you have a helmet, as well as water and snacks. Be prepared for some hilly terrain along the way. There are designated bike lanes on some sections of the road, but always stay alert for vehicle traffic.
