Car
If you are driving to the Bradford Island Visitor Center, start by heading to Cascade Locks, Oregon. From Interstate 84, take Exit 44 toward Cascade Locks. Follow the signs for Cascade Locks and merge onto Historic Columbia River Highway. Continue on this road until you reach Star Route. Depending on your starting point in the Cascade Range, the drive should only take about 15-30 minutes. Once you reach Star Route, look for the Visitor Center signs; it will be on your right. Note that parking is available at the center.
Public Transportation
To reach the Bradford Island Visitor Center via public transport, you can take a bus service that operates in the Columbia Gorge area. Check with the local transit authority for schedules and routes, as frequencies may vary. You will want to catch a bus that goes to Cascade Locks. Once you arrive in Cascade Locks, you may need to walk from the bus stop to the Visitor Center, which is about a 15-minute walk. Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, there are bike paths along the Historic Columbia River Highway that lead to Cascade Locks. If you are coming from Hood River or the surrounding areas, follow the bike trails to Cascade Locks. Once you arrive, navigate to Star Route where the Bradford Island Visitor Center is located. Biking will provide you with a scenic route, but ensure you wear a helmet and follow all safety regulations. Allow approximately 1-2 hours for the ride depending on your starting point.
Walking
If you are already in Cascade Locks and prefer to walk, you can easily reach the Bradford Island Visitor Center on foot. From the center of Cascade Locks, head towards Star Route, which is less than a mile away. The walk should take you about 20 minutes. Be sure to follow pedestrian walkways and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
