Car
If you're traveling by car, start on US-20 E from anywhere in the Cascade Range. Follow US-20 E for approximately 30 miles until you reach the town of Lebanon. From Lebanon, take OR-34 E until you reach the junction for OR-22 N. Merge onto OR-22 N and continue for about 19 miles. Take exit 13 for OR-226 toward Stayton/Scio. Continue on OR-226 for 8 miles, then turn right onto N Fork Rd. Follow N Fork Rd for about 4 miles until you reach the entrance of Opal Creek Wilderness at 22985 N Fork Rd, Lyons, OR 97358.
Public Transportation
If relying on public transportation, start by taking a bus from a nearby city (such as Salem or Albany) to Stayton. From Stayton, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to Opal Creek Wilderness, as public transit does not directly reach the site.
