Car
From downtown Bend, head southeast on US-97 S. Continue on US-97 S for approximately 25 miles. Take the exit for Tumalo/Bend/US-20 E and merge onto US-20 E. After 10 miles, turn left onto Pine Mountain Road (look for signs for Pine Mountain Observatory). Follow Pine Mountain Road for about 6 miles until you reach the observatory. Note that the road may be unpaved in some areas, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation + Car
Take a public bus from Bend to Redmond via the Cascade East Transit (Route 3). Once in Redmond, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Pine Mountain Observatory, which is approximately a 30-minute drive from Redmond. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may not operate frequently. Also, confirm taxi or rideshare availability.

If you are starting from nearby towns such as Sisters or La Pine, consider using a taxi or rideshare service like Uber or Lyft directly to Pine Mountain Observatory. Make sure your driver is familiar with the area as the observatory is located on a less-traveled road. Biking
For the adventurous, biking to Pine Mountain Observatory is an option. Starting from Bend, you can bike along the same route as cars, but be prepared for a challenging ride as the road can be steep and less maintained.
