Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the nearest town, Lakeview. Head north on OR-395 N for about 30 miles until you reach the intersection with OR-31. Turn right onto OR-31 E and follow it for approximately 20 miles. Then, turn left onto East Lake Road, which will lead you straight to East Lake. The drive should take around an hour, and be sure to check road conditions, especially in winter.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in Lake County. However, you can take the Lake County Transit bus from Lakeview to the nearest stop on OR-31. From there, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you the remaining distance to East Lake, which is about 10 miles away. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as service may not be frequent and may require planning.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking to East Lake is also an option. Starting in Lakeview, take the same route as the car directions, but be prepared for varying terrain. The journey is about 50 miles one way, so ensure you have sufficient supplies, water, and a repair kit. It's a scenic ride, but be mindful of traffic along OR-31.
Walking
Walking to East Lake is not recommended due to the distance from Lakeview (approximately 50 miles) and the lack of pedestrian pathways along OR-31. If you wish to hike, consider approaching from a nearby camping site or trail, but plan for a multi-day excursion and ensure you’re equipped for outdoor conditions.
