Car
If you are driving from Prineville, head west on NE 3rd St toward NW Madras Rd. Continue onto NE 27th St and then merge onto US-26 W. Follow US-26 W for about 19 miles until you reach the junction with OR-97 N. Merge onto OR-97 N and continue for approximately 30 miles. Take the exit for NE Hwy 20 toward Bend. Continue on NE Hwy 20 for about 10 miles, and you will see signs for Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. The entrance is located on your right.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the Cascades East Transit from Prineville to Bend. The bus service typically runs several times a day. Once you arrive at the Bend Transit Center, you can catch bus number 1 (Bend City Loop) or a rideshare service to reach Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint. The viewpoint is located about 2.5 miles from the transit center, so ensure you have a ride arranged or check local taxi services.
Walking or Biking
If you are already in Bend and wish to walk or bike to Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint, start from downtown Bend and take NE Franklin Ave east until you reach NE 14th St. Turn left on NE 14th St, and follow the road until you reach the entrance to the viewpoint. The total distance is about 1.5 miles from downtown Bend. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes if walking or bring a bicycle if you choose to bike.
