Getting There

• Car

  If you are coming from La Grande, OR, take I-84 West and exit onto US-95 South towards Riggins, ID. Continue on US-95 for approximately 120 miles. You'll pass through the towns of Weiser and Cambridge. After reaching Riggins, look for signs directing you to Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, which is accessible from US-95. Take the road towards the Hells Canyon Visitor Center.

• Car

  From Baker City, OR, head west on I-84 and take exit 302 for US-30. Follow US-30 until you reach the junction with US-95. Turn south on US-95 and continue for about 80 miles. After passing through Riggins, follow signs for Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in Eastern Oregon. You can take a Greyhound bus to either La Grande or Boise, ID. From there, you would need to rent a car or use a taxi service to reach Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. Please check the Greyhound schedule for current routes and fares, as they may vary.

• Car Rental

  If you fly into Boise Airport (BOI), you can rent a car directly at the airport. From Boise, take I-84 East to US-95 South. Continue on US-95 for about 130 miles to reach Riggins, then follow the signs to Hells Canyon. Rental prices vary, so check ahead for the best deals.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, biking to Hells Canyon is an option, though it is recommended only for experienced cyclists. From La Grande, take the scenic route through the Wallowa Mountains, but be prepared for challenging terrain and limited services along the way.
