Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start on US-20 E from any point in Eastern Oregon. Follow US-20 E for approximately 80 miles until you reach the junction with OR-395 S. Take the exit for OR-395 S and continue south for about 40 miles. When you reach the small town of Diamond, OR, look for signs directing you to Kiger Gorge Overlook. Turn onto Diamond Loop Road and follow it for about 8 miles, where you'll eventually reach the overlook. The final stretch can be a bit rough, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options are limited in this remote area. The closest bus service is operated by Eastern Oregon Transit, but it may not directly service Diamond. Consider taking a bus to Burns or Lakeview and then using a local taxi or rideshare service to reach Diamond. Once in Diamond, you can take local roads to Kiger Gorge Overlook, but be aware that the roads may not be well-marked, so having a GPS or map is advisable.

  For the adventurous, if you're already in the area and enjoy hiking, you can approach Kiger Gorge by several trails that lead to the overlook.
