Car
If you are driving from anywhere in Grant County, head towards US-97 South. If you are coming from John Day, take OR-26 West to connect with US-97 South. Continue on US-97 for approximately 140 miles. Once you reach Bend, take exit 138 for US-97 Business toward Bend. Follow the signs for US-97 Business and merge onto the highway. Continue on US-97 Business for about 4 miles, then turn left onto 59800 US-97, which is where the High Desert Museum is located. Look for the entrance on the right. Note that parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in Grant County, but you can take the Greyhound bus service available from John Day to Bend. Check the Greyhound schedule and purchase your ticket online. Once you arrive in Bend, you can use local public transport (Cascades East Transit) to get to the High Desert Museum. You will need to board Route 1 (Bend South) and disembark at the nearest stop to the museum. The museum is approximately a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
