Walking
From downtown Hood River, head east on Oak Street towards 3rd Street. Turn left onto 3rd Street and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Cascade Avenue (Hwy 30). Cross Cascade Avenue and follow the pedestrian path that leads towards the Columbia River Gorge. Once you reach the riverfront, you will see signs for the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail. Follow this trail for approximately 2.5 miles until you reach the entrance of Memaloose State Park, which is located just off the highway.
Biking
If you have access to a bike, you can make your way to Memaloose State Park more quickly. Starting from downtown Hood River, rent a bike from a local shop if needed. Head east on Oak Street, then take a left onto 3rd Street. Continue straight until you hit Cascade Avenue (Hwy 30) and cross it. From there, pick up the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail. Cycle along the trail for about 2.5 miles, enjoying the scenic views of the Columbia River until you arrive at Memaloose State Park.
Public Transport
While there is no direct public transport to Memaloose State Park, you can take the Columbia Gorge Express bus from Hood River to the nearest stop at the park entrance. The bus departs from the Hood River Waterfront Park. Make sure to check the schedule in advance as there may be limited service. After arriving at the stop, walk approximately 0.5 miles down the entrance road to reach the park.
