Bus
From downtown Hood River, walk to the Columbia Area Transit (CAT) bus station located at 1000 East Port Marina Drive. Take the CAT Route 2 bus towards Cascade Locks. The bus operates several times a day, so check the schedule for the latest times. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Get off at the Cascade Locks stop, which is near the entrance to Viento State Park.

Bicycle
Start at downtown Hood River and head east on Oak Street towards the Columbia River Gorge. Follow the Waterfront Trail, which runs along the river and offers beautiful views. Continue on the trail until you reach the intersection with Interstate 84. Use the pedestrian bridge to cross over the freeway. After crossing, follow the signs leading you to Viento State Park, which is about 10 miles from Hood River. The ride is scenic and mostly flat but be prepared for some traffic near the park entrance.

If you're feeling adventurous and want to walk to Viento State Park from Hood River, start from downtown and head towards the Columbia River. Follow the waterfront trail along the river.
