Getting There

• Car

  To reach Smith Rock State Park by car, start by driving to Highway 97. If you are in Madras, head south on Highway 97 for approximately 20 miles. If you are in Redmond, head north on Highway 97 for about 10 miles. Look for the exit signs for Smith Rock State Park. Take the exit toward Smith Rock State Park and follow the signs. You will then reach the park entrance at 44.3612308 latitude, -121.1495876 longitude. There is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle, which you can pay at the entrance.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take the Cascades East Transit bus from Bend or Redmond to Terrebonne. From the Terrebonne bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach the entrance of Smith Rock. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited, especially on weekends and holidays. Note that there is no direct public transport service to Smith Rock State Park, so walking from Terrebonne is necessary.

• Biking

  For cycling enthusiasts, you can bike to Smith Rock from either Redmond or Terrebonne. From Redmond, take the bike path along the Deschutes River, which provides a scenic route to Smith Rock. Expect the ride to take about an hour from Redmond, depending on your pace. If coming from Terrebonne, the road to the park is bike-friendly but be cautious of traffic. Ensure your bike is in good condition and carry water and snacks for the journey.
