Car
If you are driving from Madras, head south on US-97. After approximately 35 miles, take the exit for OR-26 East toward Warm Springs. Continue on OR-26 for about 30 miles until you reach the junction with US-26. Merge onto US-26 East and follow the signs toward La Grande. After about 60 miles, take the exit toward I-84 East. Merge onto I-84 and continue for about 20 miles. Take exit 265 for OR-82 toward Joseph. Follow OR-82 for about 15 miles until you reach Joseph. Once in Joseph, turn left onto Power House Rd. Follow Power House Rd for a short distance, and you will find the Wallowa Lake Trailhead on your right.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, first catch a bus from your location to La Grande on the Eastern Oregon Transit. Upon arrival in La Grande, transfer to the Wallowa County Transit bus heading towards Joseph. The Wallowa County Transit operates several routes, so check their schedule for the specific times. Once you arrive in Joseph, you will need to walk or arrange for a taxi to take you to Power House Rd where Wallowa Lake Trailhead is located. It's about a 1.5-mile walk from the Joseph bus stop to the trailhead.
Taxi/Rideshare
For those who prefer not to walk from the Joseph bus stop, taxis and rideshare services like Uber or Lyft are available. Simply order a ride to Power House Rd, Joseph, OR 97846, which is the address for the Wallowa Lake Trailhead. The ride should take about 5-10 minutes depending on traffic.
