Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from Grants Pass, the largest city in Josephine County. Take I-5 North and exit at 55 for Merlin/Galice Road. Turn left onto Merlin Road and continue until it turns into Galice Road. Follow Galice Road for about 12 miles until you reach US-97. Turn right onto US-97 South and continue for approximately 18 miles. You will see signs for Hagelstein County Park. The park entrance is located on your left, and there is ample parking available.

• Public Transportation

  For those relying on public transportation, take the Josephine Community Transit bus from Grants Pass to Merlin. From the Merlin stop, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining distance to Hagelstein County Park, which is about 12 miles away on US-97. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited on weekends and holidays.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous, biking is an option! Start in Grants Pass and take the same route as driving. The journey is approximately 30 miles one way. Ensure you have proper biking gear and a map, as some parts of the route may have limited shoulder space. Remember to hydrate and pack snacks for the ride!

• Walking/Hiking

  For experienced hikers, you could walk from Grants Pass to Hagelstein County Park, but be prepared for a long trek of approximately 30 miles along rural roads. It is advisable to do this only if you are well-prepared with water, snacks, and proper gear. This option is not recommended for inexperienced hikers due to the distance and road conditions.
