Car
If you're traveling by car, start from downtown Klamath Falls. Head north on Highway 97 for approximately 23 miles. You will pass by the Klamath County Museum and several scenic areas along the way. Once you reach the junction with Highway 140, turn right onto Highway 140 East and continue driving for about 12 miles. Look for signs indicating the Williamson River; you will see access points along the river as you approach, particularly near the town of Chiloquin. Make sure to have a map or GPS, as some access points can be off the main road.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, start by taking the Klamath Falls Transit bus from downtown Klamath Falls to Chiloquin. Check the bus schedule in advance as service may be limited. Once you arrive in Chiloquin, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Williamson River access points, which are approximately 5 miles from the bus stop. It's advisable to plan this part of your journey ahead of time, as taxis may not always be readily available.
Bicycle
If you're feeling adventurous and would like to bike, you can start from Klamath Falls and ride north on Highway 97. The distance is about 23 miles to the junction with Highway 140. There are designated bike lanes in some areas, but be cautious as traffic can be heavy. Once you turn onto Highway 140 East, enjoy the ride for about 12 miles until you reach sections of the Williamson River. This method is more physically demanding and requires a good level of fitness and preparation.
