Getting There

• Car

  From Klamath Falls, head north on OR-97 N. Continue for approximately 70 miles until you reach the junction with US-97. Follow signs for Bend. Stay on US-97 N for another 20 miles. Take exit 151 for US-97 N toward Redmond/Bend. The Lava Lands Visitor Center will be on your right at 58201 US-97, Bend, OR 97702. Note that there is a parking fee of $5 for the day.

• Public Transportation

  Take the Amtrak Thruway Bus from Klamath Falls to Bend. Once you arrive in Bend, you can take a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to the Lava Lands Visitor Center, which is about 10 miles south of downtown Bend. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as the service may vary. The cost for the Amtrak Thruway Bus is approximately $25 one way.

• Taxi/Rideshare

  If you are in Bend, you can easily use a taxi or rideshare service to get to the Lava Lands Visitor Center. Simply enter the address (58201 US-97, Bend, OR 97702) into your app, and the driver will take you there. The fare from downtown Bend should be around $20 to $25, depending on traffic.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, biking from Bend to the Lava Lands Visitor Center is a great option. Follow the paved bike paths along the Deschutes River until you reach the south end of town, then take the bike lane along US-97. Expect the ride to take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow traffic rules. There are no additional costs for biking, aside from potential bike rental fees if you don't have your own.
