Car
If you're coming from Klamath Falls, take US-97 N for approximately 30 miles. Once you reach the town of Tulelake, CA, continue on CA-139 N. After about 5 miles, turn left onto Visitor Center Trail. Follow the signs for the Lava Beds National Monument Visitor Center, where Mushpot Cave is located. Parking is available at the Visitor Center, and there may be an entrance fee to the park, so be prepared for a possible cost.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. However, you can take a Greyhound bus from Klamath Falls to Tulelake. Once you arrive in Tulelake, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service for the remaining 5 miles to the Lava Beds National Monument Visitor Center. Walking
Walking to Mushpot Cave is not recommended due to the distance from Klamath Falls (approximately 35 miles) and the lack of pedestrian pathways along the highways. If you are staying in Tulelake, you can walk from the town to the Lava Beds National Monument Visitor Center, which is about 5 miles away. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water.
