Car
If you are driving from the town of Lakeview, take US-395 N for about 45 miles, then merge onto OR-31 N towards Silver Lake. Continue for about 50 miles until you reach the junction with OR-20 W. Take OR-20 W for approximately 25 miles until you reach the turnoff for McKenzie Hwy. Follow McKenzie Hwy for about 5 miles; Dee Wright Observatory will be on your right. Note that McKenzie Hwy is a scenic route with beautiful views, so be sure to enjoy the drive!
Car
From the town of Christmas Valley, head west on OR-395 S for about 50 miles. Turn right onto OR-20 W and continue for about 25 miles. When you reach the junction with McKenzie Hwy, turn right and follow it for approximately 5 miles. Dee Wright Observatory will be on your right. Ensure that your vehicle is suitable for mountain driving, particularly in winter months when conditions may be challenging.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this area. However, you can take a bus to Bend, Oregon, and then transfer to a shuttle service that operates to the McKenzie River area. Check the schedule for the shuttle as it may not run frequently. Once you arrive at the McKenzie River area, you will likely need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Dee Wright Observatory, which is approximately 5 miles away.
