To reach Van Ornum Battlefield from within Malheur County by car, first get on I-84 E from any point in the county. If you are starting in Ontario, OR, take US-20 E towards Nyssa, then merge onto I-84 E. Continue on I-84 E for approximately 40 miles. Take exit 351 for OR-86 towards Halfway. Stay on OR-86 for about 30 miles until you reach Huntington, OR. Once in Huntington, follow Main St. south until you reach the intersection with 1st St. Continue on 1st St. which will lead you directly to the battlefield area. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as services may be limited in the surrounding areas.
