Getting There

  • Car

    From Smith Rock State Park, head south on Smith Rock Way. Continue onto NE Crooked River Dr, following signs toward US-97 S. Merge onto US-97 S and continue for approximately 20 miles. Take the exit for Sunriver and follow signs to River Rd. Turn left onto River Rd, and the Oregon Observatory will be on your right at 57245 River Rd, Sunriver, OR 97707. Note: There may be parking fees at the observatory, so please check their website or call ahead for current pricing.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are utilizing public transportation, you will first need to take a local bus or shuttle from Smith Rock State Park to Redmond, OR. Once in Redmond, catch the Central Oregon Breeze transit service heading towards Bend. From Bend, transfer to a bus that goes to Sunriver. Upon arriving in Sunriver, you can either walk or take a taxi to the Oregon Observatory at 57245 River Rd. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.
