If you are driving to Scout Camp Trailhead from anywhere within Smith Rock State Park, start by heading south on the main park road. Follow the park road until you reach the entrance of the park. Once you exit the park, turn left onto SW 1st Street. Continue on SW 1st Street, which will turn into Smith Rock Way. Drive until you reach the intersection with SW Scout Camp Trail. Turn left onto SW Scout Camp Trail. Keep driving until you see the sign for Scout Camp Trailhead, which will be on your left. There is no parking fee at Scout Camp Trailhead.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, start by taking a bus to Redmond, Oregon. From Redmond, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service such as Uber or Lyft to Smith Rock State Park. Once at the park, follow the same directions for drivers: head south on the main park road, exit the park, turn left onto SW 1st Street, then turn left onto SW Scout Camp Trail. The trailhead will be on your left. Note that public transportation options may be limited, and it's advisable to check schedules in advance.
Bicycle
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle in Redmond or nearby areas. Start from your rental location and ride towards Smith Rock State Park. There are bike-friendly routes, and once you arrive at the park entrance, you can continue biking along the park roads. Follow the same route as cars: head south on the main park road, exit the park, turn left onto SW 1st Street, then turn left onto SW Scout Camp Trail. The trailhead will be on your left. Remember to wear a helmet and follow all safety guidelines while biking.
