Car
From the central Umpqua Valley area, head east on OR-138 E toward Crater Lake. Continue on OR-138 for approximately 25 miles. As you approach the junction with OR-230, look for signs directing you to Mt. Thielsen. Turn right onto OR-230 S and follow the signs for an additional 10 miles. You will see signs for Mt. Thielsen County Park. The road will lead you to the parking area near the base of the mountain. Please note that parking fees may apply, so be prepared with cash or a card.
Public Transportation + Hiking
If you are relying on public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or local shuttle to Roseburg, Oregon. From Roseburg, you can catch a local bus service toward Crater Lake. However, public transport options may be limited, and a rental car or rideshare may be more convenient for reaching Mt. Thielsen. Once you arrive at the nearest drop-off point, you will need to hike to the mountain. Prepare for a moderate to challenging hike, as there are no direct paths from public transport stops to the summit.
