Car
If you're driving from Joseph, OR, take OR-82 E for about 5 miles. Then, turn left onto NF-100. Continue on NF-100 for approximately 9 miles. Be aware that this road may require a high-clearance vehicle or 4WD. Follow the signs for Tenderfoot Trailhead, which will be on your right.
Public Transportation + Car
For those relying on public transportation, take the bus from La Grande to Joseph. Once in Joseph, you will need to rent a car or arrange for a shuttle service as public transport does not reach the Tenderfoot Trailhead directly. After renting a car, follow the same driving instructions as above to reach the trailhead.
Hiking from Nearby Campsite
If you're camping nearby, such as at the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, you can hike to Tenderfoot Trailhead. Follow the markers leading to NF-100. Depending on your campsite location, this could take several hours of hiking, so ensure you have adequate supplies and a map.
