From Joseph, Oregon, head east on Oregon Route 82 towards Enterprise. Continue on Route 82 for about 9 miles until you reach the junction with Oregon Route 3. Turn left onto Route 3 and drive north for approximately 20 miles. Look for signs directing you to Sled Springs as you approach the area. Sled Springs is located near the intersection of Route 3 and Forest Road 39, which leads directly to the spring. Note that the road may be unpaved and could require a high-clearance vehicle, especially after rain.

If you are in La Grande, take Interstate 84 East towards Baker City. Exit at Exit 265 for Oregon Route 203. Follow Route 203 south through Elgin and into the Wallowa Valley.
