Car
If you have access to a car, start your journey from Mingora, which is about 40 km away from Chakdara. Take the N-45 highway heading north. After around 30 km, you will pass through the town of Chakdara. Continue on the N-45 for about 10 km until you reach the fort, which will be on your right. Ensure you have a GPS enabled, or use a navigation app for real-time directions.
Public Transportation (Bus/Minibus)
From Mingora, you can take a bus or a minibus heading towards Lower Dir. Buses depart frequently from the Mingora bus station. The fare is typically around PKR 200-300. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Chakdara. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at Chakdara, it’s a short walk to the fort, which is located on the N-45 highway.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, hire a taxi from Mingora. The taxi fare to Chakdara Fort can range from PKR 1500 to PKR 2000, depending on negotiation and the time of day. The journey should take around 45 minutes. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your trip.
Local Transport (Rickshaw)
Within Chakdara, you can use local rickshaws to reach the fort if you are staying in a nearby hotel or guesthouse. Rickshaw fares are usually around PKR 100-200 for short distances. Simply ask the rickshaw driver to take you to Chakdara Fort.
