Walking
From the center of Gilgit, head towards the Gilgit River and locate the main bus station (also known as the 'Chowk'). At the bus station, find a jeep heading towards Naltar Valley. It's essential to negotiate the fare and ensure the driver is heading to the Sarmad Shafa Snow Leopard Sanctuary specifically. The jeep ride will take you through scenic landscapes for approximately 1-1.5 hours.
Jeep
Once you reach the Naltar Valley entrance, you may need to switch to a local jeep if you haven't already. These jeeps are available at the entrance and can take you deeper into Naltar Valley towards the Sarmad Shafa Snow Leopard Sanctuary. The ride may take an additional 30-45 minutes. Confirm with the driver that you are heading to the sanctuary to ensure you are on the right track.
Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, consider hiking from the last jeep stop. The sanctuary is located at approximate coordinates 36.207011, 74.137525. Follow the marked trails leading towards the sanctuary, which will offer breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Make sure to carry a map or use a GPS device, as the trails can be winding and may not always be well-marked.
