Car
From any location in Kaghan Valley, you will want to head towards the town of Balakot. Take the N-15 highway heading south. Upon reaching Balakot, continue on N-15 until you reach Muzaffarabad. This journey will take approximately 4-5 hours depending on traffic. Once in Muzaffarabad, follow signs for the Neelum Valley road, which is a scenic route that will take you into Neelam Valley. The total driving distance is around 110 kilometers from Balakot to Muzaffarabad, and then another 40 kilometers into Neelam Valley. Note that road conditions can vary, so be prepared for some rough patches.
Public Transportation
To travel by public transport, take a local bus or van from Kaghan Valley to Balakot. These usually depart from designated bus stations and the journey to Balakot will take about 2-3 hours. Once in Balakot, you can catch a bus or van to Muzaffarabad. After arriving in Muzaffarabad, you will find shared taxis and buses that head towards Neelam Valley. The public transport fare from Kaghan Valley to Balakot is approximately 200-300 PKR, and from Balakot to Muzaffarabad around 300-500 PKR. The final leg from Muzaffarabad to Neelam Valley will cost around 500-700 PKR depending on the mode of transport.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, hiring a taxi from Kaghan Valley to Neelam Valley is an option. You can arrange this through local taxi services. The taxi will take you directly to Neelam Valley, which is convenient but more expensive. The cost for a taxi from Kaghan Valley to Neelam Valley can range from 6000 to 8000 PKR, depending on bargaining and the taxi service. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your trip.
