Car
To reach Batura Sar from Khunjerab Pass by car, start by driving south on the Karakoram Highway (N-35). You will travel approximately 90 kilometers. The drive will take you through stunning landscapes, so be sure to enjoy the views. After crossing the Attabad Lake, continue until you reach the town of Hunza. From Hunza, take the road towards Passu village. Keep an eye out for signage leading to Batura Base Camp, located near Passu. The base camp is about 20 kilometers from Passu. You may need a 4WD vehicle, especially if the weather conditions are not ideal. Parking is available at the base camp.
Public Transportation
To reach Batura Sar using public transportation, take a jeep or bus from Khunjerab Pass to the nearest major town, which is Karimabad in Hunza. The journey will take about 2 hours. From Karimabad, you can hire a local jeep to Passu village. This ride might take an additional 30 minutes. At Passu, look for local transport services that can take you to Batura Base Camp. Be sure to negotiate the fare in advance, as prices can vary. The total public transport cost could range from PKR 1000 to PKR 2000, depending on your negotiating skills and the number of passengers.
Hiking
Once you reach Batura Base Camp, you will need to hike to Batura Sar. The hike is challenging and should only be undertaken by experienced trekkers. It typically takes 2-3 days to reach the summit depending on the chosen route and your acclimatization. It's highly recommended to hire a local guide for safety and navigation. Ensure you have proper trekking gear and check weather conditions before starting your trek. The hike is not just about reaching the peak, but also about enjoying the breathtaking views along the way.
