Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Mingora, which is the main city in the Swat Valley. Head northwest on the Saidu Sharif Road (N-95) towards the town of Khwazakhela. Follow the signs for Lower Dir and continue on N-95. After reaching Khwazakhela, turn onto the Dir Road (N-45) and drive towards the town of Timergara. Once in Timergara, follow the directions to Badwan, where the Rainbow Waterfall is located. The waterfall is approximately 5 km from the center of Badwan. Ensure your vehicle is equipped for rough terrain as the last stretch may have unpaved roads.
Public Transportation
To reach Rainbow Waterfall using public transportation, take a bus or a van from Mingora to Timergara. Buses are available frequently and the fare is approximately PKR 200-300. Once you arrive in Timergara, you will need to hire a local taxi or a rickshaw to take you to Badwan. The cost for the taxi ride to Badwan is around PKR 800-1500, depending on negotiation. After reaching Badwan, the waterfall is about 5 km away, and you may need to walk or hire a local guide for the last part of your journey.
Walking
If you decide to walk from Badwan to Rainbow Waterfall, be prepared for a trek of about 5 kilometers. The path is somewhat rugged and may not be well marked, so it's advisable to ask locals for directions. It's recommended to carry water, wear comfortable shoes, and start your hike early in the day to avoid the heat.
