Getting there

Car

If you are traveling by car, head towards Kumrat Valley. From the main road, take the route towards Jahaz Banda. Continue driving until you reach the Kumrat Valley entrance near the village of Bada Gram. From Bada Gram, follow the signs leading to Kala Chasma (Black Spring). The road may become narrower and more rugged as you approach the destination, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours from Bada Gram.

Public Transportation

For those using public transport, you can take a bus or van from Upper Dir to Kumrat Valley. Buses leave from the Upper Dir bus station. Once you arrive in Kumrat Valley, you can hire a local jeep to take you to Kala Chasma. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically costs around PKR 2000 to 3000 for the jeep ride. The jeep ride will take around 30 minutes to an hour depending on the road conditions.

Hiking

If you are adventurous and already in the vicinity of Kumrat, you can opt to hike to Kala Chasma. Start your hike from the Kumrat Valley base, which is well-marked. The hike is approximately 5-6 kilometers and can take about 2 to 3 hours depending on your fitness level. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and enough water for the trek.
