    Getting There

    Car

    From Skardu, drive towards the town of Askole, which is the last accessible point by vehicle. The drive takes approximately 8-10 hours, depending on road conditions. Follow the Skardu Road and look for signs directing you towards Askole. Once you reach Askole, you will need to park your vehicle here, as the road beyond is not accessible by car.

    Trekking

    From Askole, you will begin a multi-day trek to K2 Base Camp. The trek usually takes around 8-10 days. The route will take you through the Baltoro Glacier, passing through various camps such as Jhola, Paiju, Urdukus, and Goro II before reaching Base Camp. It is recommended to hire a local guide and porter for assistance, which can be arranged in Askole. Costs for guides and porters vary, but expect to pay around PKR 3000-5000 per day per person.

    Public Transportation

    If you don't have a private vehicle, you can take a bus or jeep from Skardu to Askole. Buses leave from the Skardu bus station and the journey to Askole typically takes about 10-12 hours.
