Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving, head towards Hunza from Gilgit. The journey will take approximately 2 hours. Once you reach Karimabad, look for signs directing you to Altit Fort. Turn onto the road towards Altit village, which is about 3 kilometers from Karimabad. Follow the road until you see Altit Fort on your right. Ample parking is available near the fort.

  • Public Transportation (Van/Bus)

    You can take a bus or a shared van from Gilgit to Karimabad, which costs around PKR 300-500 per person. The journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Karimabad, you can hire a local taxi or a rickshaw to take you to Altit Fort for about PKR 200-300. The taxi will take you directly to the entrance of the fort.

  • Walking

    If you are already in Karimabad and prefer to walk, you can hike to Altit Fort. From the Karimabad bazaar, head towards the Altit village along the main road. The walk is about 3 kilometers and will take approximately 30-40 minutes. It offers beautiful views of the Hunza Valley along the way.

  • Entry Fee

    Please note that there is an entry fee of PKR 600 per person for Pakistani nationals. Foreign tourists may have a different fee, so it is advisable to check at the entrance.
