Usho Forest: Nature's Tranquil Retreat in Kalam

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are in Kalam, start at the main market area, where you can find local shops and eateries. From the market, head towards the main road (Kalam-Bahrain Road) and follow it north. Walk approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the sign for Usho. The road to Usho is well-marked. Continue along this road for about 5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views. You will eventually reach a small village; continue straight through the village, and after about 2 kilometers, you will find the entrance to Usho Forest on your left.

• Hiking

  If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can take the hiking trail starting from the Kalam area. Begin at the Kalam riverbank and follow the trail that leads upwards towards the hills. It is a steep ascent, so ensure you have proper footwear and plenty of water. The trail will take you through beautiful landscapes and pine trees. After about 3 hours of hiking, you will arrive at Usho Forest. Keep an eye out for trail markers and local guides who are familiar with the area.

• Local Transport (Jeep or Horse)

  For a more comfortable journey, you can hire a local jeep from Kalam to Usho Forest. Look for jeep services near the main market; they are quite common and affordable. The ride will take about 30-45 minutes, and the drivers are usually familiar with the best routes. Alternatively, you can hire a horse from local stables if you wish to enjoy a traditional mode of transportation. The horse ride will take approximately 1 hour, allowing you to soak in the natural beauty along the way.
