Walking
If you are in Mingora, the main city of Swat, start by walking towards the main bus terminal. From there, you can take a local bus or shared van heading towards Kalam. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the turn for Ilam. The journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you reach the turn-off, you will have to walk for about 3-4 kilometers uphill to reach Ilam.
Public Transport
From Saidu Sharif, take a local bus heading to Mingora. Once in Mingora, head to the local bus terminal and catch a bus to Kalam. Be sure to ask the conductor to drop you off at the Ilam turn-off. After disembarking, you will need to walk approximately 3-4 kilometers uphill to reach Ilam. Ensure you carry enough water and wear comfortable shoes for the hike.
