Getting There

• Car

  To reach Lago Cerro Azul from Gamboa by car, start by heading southeast on the Gamboa road. Continue straight until you reach the entrance to the Soberania National Park. Drive past the park entrance and follow the signs for the Pan-American Highway (Interamericana). Merge onto the Pan-American Highway heading east. After approximately 20 kilometers, take the exit toward Cerro Azul. Follow the signs to Cerro Azul, and then navigate through the residential area until you reach the lake. Parking is generally available near the lake.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a bus from Gamboa to Albrook Terminal in Panama City. Buses leave frequently, and the fare is around $1.50. Once at Albrook Terminal, transfer to a bus that heads towards Cerro Azul. Look for buses with signs indicating 'Cerro Azul,' and the fare should be approximately $2.50. The bus will drop you off near the entrance to Cerro Azul. From there, you may need to walk a short distance or hire a local taxi to reach the lake. Be sure to confirm the taxi fare with the driver beforehand.

• Taxi

  For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Gamboa. Depending on your negotiation skills and the time of day, a taxi ride to Lago Cerro Azul can cost between $25 to $35. Provide the driver with the details of your destination, and they will take you directly to the lake. It’s advisable to arrange for the taxi to wait for you at the lake to ensure you have a ride back to Gamboa.
