Getting There

  • Car

    If you have access to a car, start your journey from the nearest town, such as San Félix or Volcán. Head east on the Pan-American Highway (Route 1) until you reach the junction with Route 10. Turn left onto Route 10, which leads you toward the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to Cerro Madera. The road may become less maintained as you approach the mountain, so drive cautiously.

    To travel by public transport, take a bus from David to San Félix. Buses leave frequently from the terminal in David. Once in San Félix, look for a bus heading to the Ngäbe-Buglé region. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at the junction for Cerro Madera. The fare for the bus from David to San Félix is around $1.50, and the fare to the junction will be approximately $2.00. From the junction, you may need to hire a local taxi to reach the foot of the mountain, which may cost around $10.
