Getting There

Car
If you are driving from Madang Town, head south on the Ramu Highway (Highway 1) for approximately 30 kilometers. Look for the signs directing you towards the Mount Kunugui area. Once you reach the junction near the village of Karkar, turn left onto a dirt road. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the base of Mount Kunugui. Be aware that this road may require a 4WD vehicle due to rough conditions.

From Madang Town, take a PMV (Public Motor Vehicle) heading towards Ramu. You can catch these PMVs from the main bus stop in Madang. Inform the driver that you are heading to Mount Kunugui. The fare should be around 10-15 Kina. Once you arrive at the junction near Karkar, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a motorbike to take you the remaining 15 kilometers to the base of the mountain.
