Getting There

Walking
From the center of Rabaul, head east on the main road (Kokopo Road) towards the town of Kokopo. Continue on Kokopo Road for approximately 5 kilometers until you reach the junction with Bitapaka Road. At this junction, take a left onto Bitapaka Road. Follow Bitapaka Road for around 3 kilometers, and you will see signs directing you to the Bitapaka War Cemetery. The cemetery is located on the right-hand side of the road, marked by a distinctive entrance. The entire journey should take you about 1 hour on foot.

Bicycle
If you are renting a bicycle, start from the Rabaul town center and cycle east on Kokopo Road. This route is approximately 5 kilometers long. After 5 kilometers, turn left onto Bitapaka Road and continue for about 3 kilometers. The Bitapaka War Cemetery will be on your right. The cycling journey should take around 30 minutes in total, depending on your speed.
