Getting There

Walking
From the center of Rabaul, start at the Rabaul Market located on the corner of Mango Avenue and the main road. Head south along Mango Avenue towards the coastline. Continue along the scenic waterfront promenade, enjoying views of the harbor. After approximately 1 kilometer, take a left onto the gravel path that leads up towards the hills. Follow this path for about 500 meters until you reach the entrance of the Rabaul caldera. The caldera is marked with a sign and offers beautiful panoramic views.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Rabaul. Start from the Rabaul Historical Society Museum on the main road and cycle north along the coast. Continue past the Rabaul Hotel and the waterfront area. After approximately 2 kilometers, take a right onto the road leading up into the hills toward the Rabaul caldera. Follow this road for about 1 kilometer, and you will arrive at the entrance of the caldera, where you can park your bicycle and enjoy the views.
