Travel Guide to Hill of the cross

Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Hill of the Cross, start by entering Cerro Cora National Park through the main entrance. Once inside, follow the main road through the park. You may encounter signs directing you toward Hill of the Cross. Drive approximately 5 kilometers along the park road until you reach a fork. At the fork, take the left path which will lead you closer to the hill. Continue for another 2 kilometers, and you'll see a parking area near the base of the hill. Park your car here and prepare for a short hike to the top.

• Public Transportation

  If you're relying on public transportation, take a bus from Asunción to the nearest town to Cerro Cora National Park. From there, you may need to hire a taxi or find a local transport service to take you to the park entrance. Once at the park, you can either arrange for a guided tour that includes transportation to Hill of the Cross or follow the same route as described for drivers. Be prepared for a small fee at the park entrance, which is typically around 10,000 PYG (Paraguayan Guarani).

• Hiking

  For those already within Cerro Cora National Park and looking for a hiking experience, begin your trek from the nearest trailhead, which is well-marked. The hike to Hill of the Cross is approximately 3 kilometers and should take about 1-2 hours depending on your pace. Follow the signs that lead you through the park's natural scenery, and be sure to carry water and wear appropriate hiking boots.
