Public Transit
From downtown Erie, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (EMTA) bus route that goes towards Waldameer Park. You can take Route 26 from the Erie Intermodal Transit Center. The bus will take you directly towards Waldameer Park Rd. After approximately a 20-minute ride, get off at the stop closest to Waldameer Park, which is near the intersection of Waldameer Park Rd and W 24th St. From there, walk south on Waldameer Park Rd for about 0.5 miles, and you will arrive at Rainbow Gardens located at 220 Waldameer Park Rd. Make sure to check the EMTA schedule for the latest times and routes.
Bicycle
If you prefer to bike, you can start from Erie’s Bayfront area. Head west along the Bayfront Parkway and follow the bike path north. Continue until you reach the intersection with W 6th St, where you will turn left. Follow W 6th St as it becomes W 12th St and then continue until you reach the intersection with State St. Turn right onto State St and then take a left onto W 24th St. Follow W 24th St until you reach Waldameer Park Rd. Turn right on Waldameer Park Rd, and Rainbow Gardens will be on your left at 220 Waldameer Park Rd. The total distance is approximately 4 miles.
Walking
If you're staying nearby, you can walk to Rainbow Gardens. From the Erie Zoo, head northwest on W 38th St. Continue on W 38th St until you reach the intersection with Waldameer Park Rd. Turn left onto Waldameer Park Rd and continue walking for about 0.8 miles. You will see Rainbow Gardens on your right at 220 Waldameer Park Rd. This walk should take you around 15-20 minutes.
