If you are driving from Great Valley, start by heading south on Route 29 towards the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76). Merge onto I-76 East. Continue on I-76 for approximately 20 miles, then take exit 340 for I-676 toward Central Philadelphia. Merge onto I-676 and continue until you reach the exit for 22nd Street. Turn left onto 22nd Street, then right onto Fairmount Avenue. Eastern State Penitentiary will be on your left at 2027 Fairmount Ave.

To reach Eastern State Penitentiary using public transportation, start by taking the SEPTA train from the Great Valley station to the Paoli station. From Paoli, transfer to the R5 train towards the city. Get off at the 69th Street Terminal and transfer to the 44 bus line towards the Broad Street Subway. Ride the bus to the Broad Street Subway Line and exit at the Fairmount stop. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to Eastern State Penitentiary, located at 2027 Fairmount Ave.
