If you are starting from downtown Pittsburgh, you can take the Port Authority bus number 71A (which goes towards 'Highland Park'). Board the bus at the Wood Street Station. The bus will take you north through the city. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes until you reach the stop for 'Baker Street at S. Braddock Ave'. From there, it's a short walk to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. Head east on Baker Street for about 5 minutes until you reach the entrance at 7370 Baker St.

If you prefer taking the light rail, board the 'Blue Line' at the First Avenue Station towards 'S. Park'. After 5 stops, get off at the 'Liberty Station' stop.
