Bus
If you are starting from downtown Pittsburgh, you can take the Port Authority bus route 1, 2, or 4. Board the bus at any of the bus stops along Grant Street or Liberty Avenue. The fare is $2.75 (exact change required). Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes and get off at the 'North Side' stop. From there, it's a short walk. Head north on Federal Street, then turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right at 700 Arch St.
Trolley
From downtown, you can also take the 'T' light rail system. Board the North Shore Line at the Station Square stop. The fare is $2.50. Travel for about 10 minutes and get off at the 'North Side' station. From there, walk north on Federal Street, then turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right at 700 Arch St.
Walking
If you are already in the North Side area, you can walk to the National Aviary. From the Andy Warhol Museum, head north on the Riverwalk. Cross over at the Convention Center and continue straight on to North Shore Drive. Turn left onto Federal Street and then take a right onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right at 700 Arch St.
Bike
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local bike-share programs available throughout the city. Start from Point State Park, bike north along the river on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail, and follow the paths leading to the North Side. Once you reach the North Side, make your way to Federal Street, turn left onto Arch Street, and you will find the National Aviary on your right at 700 Arch St.
