A Step Back in Time at Independence Hall

Getting There

• Car

  If you're coming from the Upper Delaware Valley area, start by getting onto Route 97 South. Follow Route 97 until it merges with Route 6 East. Continue on Route 6 East for approximately 21 miles until you reach I-84. Merge onto I-84 East and follow it for about 15 miles until you reach the exit for I-476 South (the Pennsylvania Turnpike). Take I-476 South for about 50 miles until you reach the exit for I-76 East towards Philadelphia. Merge onto I-76 East and continue for approximately 12 miles. Take exit 344A for I-676 East towards Central Philadelphia. Follow I-676 until it turns into Vine Street Expressway. Take the exit for 6th Street and turn left onto 6th Street. Continue for a few blocks and turn right onto Chestnut Street. Independence Hall will be on your left at 520 Chestnut St.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Independence Hall using public transportation, start by finding a local bus station in the Upper Delaware Valley area. Board a bus heading towards the nearest train station, such as the Port Jervis Train Station. From Port Jervis, take the NJ Transit train to Hoboken Terminal. At Hoboken, transfer to the PATH train towards World Trade Center and get off at the 9th Street Station. From there, transfer to the subway (1 train) to Chambers Street. Walk to the World Trade Center PATH station and transfer to the R train towards 69th Street. Get off at the 8th Street-NYU station, walk to the 6th Avenue subway line, and take it to the 15th Street station. Finally, walk towards 6th Street and turn left onto Chestnut Street. Independence Hall will be on your left at 520 Chestnut St.
