Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Huaraz. Take the Calle José de la Riva Agüero road heading east towards the Carretera Huaraz - Pato. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Huascarán National Park. After paying the entrance fee (around 30 soles per person), continue driving for about 15 more kilometers. You will see signs for Lagunas de Llanganuco. Follow the signs to the parking area near the lakes.

  • Public Transportation

    For those using public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Huaraz. Look for buses heading to Yungay, which is approximately 60 kilometers to the north. The bus ride costs around 10-15 soles and takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Yungay, you can find shared taxis or collectivos (shared vans) that go directly to Lagunas de Llanganuco. The fare for the taxi or collectivo is about 10 soles per person for the 25-kilometer trip to the lakes.
