Car
If you're driving from Arequipa city, take the Pan-American Highway (PE-1S) heading northeast. After about 30 kilometers, take the exit towards Juliaca (PE-3S). Continue on PE-3S for approximately 60 kilometers until you reach the town of Sicuani. From Sicuani, follow the signs towards Uyo Uyo, which is about 40 kilometers away. The final stretch will take you through a dirt road, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended. Make sure to take precautions as some parts of the road may be uneven.
Public Transportation
Start your journey at Arequipa's main bus terminal (Terminal Terrestre). Look for buses heading to Sicuani. The ticket prices vary but expect to pay around 15-20 soles. The journey will take approximately 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Sicuani, you will need to find a local taxi or colectivo (shared taxi) to take you to Uyo Uyo, which is around 40 kilometers away. Taxi fares from Sicuani to Uyo Uyo will typically cost around 50-80 soles. Make sure to negotiate the price before starting your journey.
Combination (Bus and Foot)
From Arequipa, take a bus to Sicuani as mentioned previously. Once in Sicuani, instead of a taxi, you can opt to walk towards Uyo Uyo, which is approximately a 40-kilometer trek. This is a more adventurous option and not commonly recommended, but if you're up for a hike, you can follow the dirt road leading to Uyo Uyo. Ensure you have enough supplies, water, and good walking shoes, as this journey can take several hours.
Use Uyo Uyo as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
