Walking
If you're in the city center of Arequipa, start by heading to the Plaza de Armas. From the Plaza, walk north along Calle Santa Catalina. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenida Ejercito. Turn left onto Avenida Ejercito and walk for about 15 minutes. You will see the Misti volcano in the distance. Keep walking until you reach the base of the volcano, where you can find various trails to explore.
Public Transport
From the Plaza de Armas, you can take a local bus that heads towards the outskirts of Arequipa. Look for a bus labeled 'Misti' or any bus heading towards the Yanahuara district. Once you are on the bus, inform the driver that you want to go to Misti. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the nearest stop and follow the signs directing you to the Misti trailhead.
Taxi or Ride-share
You can easily hail a taxi from anywhere in Arequipa. Just tell the driver 'Misti' and they will know to take you to the area near the volcano. The drive will take around 20-25 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive, ask the driver to drop you off at the trailhead or a nearby point where you can start your hike.
