Getting There

By Train

From Cusco, take a taxi or public transportation to the Poroy or Ollantaytambo train station. Purchase a ticket for the PeruRail or Inca Rail train to Aguas Calientes, the town closest to Machu Picchu. Once in Aguas Calientes, you can either take a bus or hike up to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
By Bus

From Cusco, take a bus or taxi to Ollantaytambo. From Ollantaytambo, you can take a shared van or bus to Hidroelectrica. From Hidroelectrica, you can either hike for a few hours or take a train to Aguas Calientes. Finally, from Aguas Calientes, you can take a bus or hike up to Machu Picchu.
By Trekking

For the adventurous traveler, you can choose to hike the famous Inca Trail which takes about 4 days to reach Machu Picchu. Alternatively, you can also choose other trekking routes such as the Salkantay Trek or Lares Trek, which also lead to Machu Picchu.
